Donating a cheque to Sericc
When a large childrens hospice turned down donations from the Open Arms Spiritual Haven in Grays, they opened the door to a number of smaller local charities who are crying out for help and support. The Haven is a Spiritualist and Alternative Healing and Therapy centre, and offers a range of mediums, card readers, therapists and alternative practitioners to the people of Grays every week - something that didn't go down well with the charity concerned.
Jay Gage from the Haven said "We are particularly proud of our charitable work, but when we first opened, our money was turned down by a large childrens hospice, as they did not agree with Spiritualism. Im glad now that this happened, as it has opened the floodgates to a range of smaller, local charities, where we can see that our money is truly doing good. Obviously everything truly does happen for a reason !"
Thel Haven was proud to makes it's first donation to Grays-based charity South Essex Rape and Incest Crisis Centre (SERICC) on Sunday the 3rd of May. At a packed meeting, over 90 visitors saw a cheque for £300 donated to the charity. The money will be used by SERICC to help fund their telephone help line, which provides advice and support for the victims of sexual abuse. Since the Haven opened in June, they have donated 1,500.00 to Thurrock MIND, the mental health charity, and also gave a donation to "Give Amy Sight" an appeal for Southend based Amy Jarrett, an 8 year old with the same disorder as Jordan's son, causing her blindness and other difficulties.
Jay said "SERICC is carrying out amazing work in an area which many people prefer to pretend doesnt exist, and we are delighted to be able to help them through the generosity of our visitors and the mediums and practitioners who work at the Haven week after week to help our causes."
Open Arms Haven is completely non-profit making, and donates all money raised to local causes. The Haven is open every Sunday at Belmont Hall, Parker Road, Grays, from 6.30pm, and each week offers mediumship, qualified Spiritual Pathway healers, and a range of card readers and alternative therapists.
